Photofacial laser treatment provides a solution for uneven skin tones and other skin conditions in Milpitas

As we age, our skin begins to show visible signs of the aging process. Sun damage, acne scarring, and loss of volume can leave the face looking old or tired. Photofacial laser treatments are designed to combat the signs of aging and leave skin looking rejuvenated. Photofacial treatments can help with pigmentation issues, even the skin tone, and improve skin texture. The entire process is non-ablative and it can take years off your appearance.

Photofacial laser treatments are safe and effective for treating:
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Age spots
  • Rosacea
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Lines and wrinkles

How it works:

Photofacial treatments direct high-pulsed light energy to the affected area. The light is absorbed by the hemoglobin and melanin and breaks apart the damaged blood vessels. The body absorbs the vessels, leaving the skin looking refreshed and rejuvenated. The intense pulsed light can also reach the deep layers of tissue where collagen is produced, which helps stimulate new collagen production and improves the texture and firmness of the skin. To make photofacial treatments more comfortable, a cooling gel is applied to the area prior to treatment. Protective goggles are worn to keep the eyes safe from exposure.

Photofacial treatments can usually be finished in about half an hour. After the treatment is complete, you will be sent home with specific after-care instructions for taking care of your skin. Most patients can expect to need around four to six sessions spaced a few weeks apart for maximum elimination of unwanted spots.

Before receiving photofacial treatments, it is important to avoid sun exposure, including tanning beds for several weeks. We also ask patients to discontinue the use of any self-tanning sprays or lotions two weeks before the appointment.

Side effects from photofacial treatment may include a pinkness or redness of the skin, similar to sunburn. There is no downtime with photofacial and it is safe to put on make-up immediately following your session.

If you are ready to make your skin look younger, refreshed, and rejuvenated, come see why our patients in the Milpitas area are so happy with results from photofacial laser treatments.
