Medical Dermatology

Medical Dermatology

Patients frequently seek the assistance of a medical dermatologist. When treatment of the skin, hair, or nails is needed, dermatological care is best for all ages. Many conditions are treated by our practice, including:

Eczema

Eczema is a condition that causes rashes and blistering of the skin. It may be mild in nature due to contact with an allergen, or it can be severe and cause pain and itching. Treatment plans are developed based on proper diagnosis, severity of the condition, and the type of eczema presented.

Warts

Caused by the HPV (human papillomavirus), warts can develop on any area of the body, including the hands and feet. They are unsightly and may go away on their own without treatment. When they must be removed for comfort or cosmetic reasons, they can be removed using one of a variety of methods.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that can cause redness and acne-like bumps on the face. This condition can be medically controlled, and triggers can be determined and avoided.

Hair Loss

Hair loss can happen for a variety of reasons, including hormonal changes, male pattern baldness, and even stress. By discussing hair loss and thinning concerns with a dermatologist, patients can learn about appropriate treatments for regrowing hair.

Skin Cancer

Our practice offers both skin cancer screenings and skin cancer treatments, including Mohs Micrographic Surgery. We suggest patients undergo skin cancer screenings once a year and monitor unusual skin tags, moles, and unusual growths for changes.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an immunological disorder causing red scaly patches to grow on the skin. In the past several years, enormous strides have been made in treatment, and our practice is one of the few centers in the Bay Area to offer complete and comprehensive psoriasis care. This includes topical medications for mild cases and systemic treatment, narrow band light treatments and Excimer laser treatments for more severe cases.

Acne

This condition is one of the most common reasons patients visit a dermatological practice. Acne and acne scarring can be addressed with prescription strength medications and skin treatments offered by the Center for Dermatology Cosmetic and Laser Surgery.

Vitiligo

This condition causes patchy areas of lost pigmentation. Although not medically harmful, vitiligo can have a deleterious effect, which can have a negative effect on one’s appearance. With a confirmed diagnosis, patients can discuss repigmentation therapies and in rare cases, depigmentation.
